MIThenge approaches!
Saturday, November 9 & Sunday, November 10, 4:15-4:25pm
Third Floor of the Infinite Corridor
It’s that time of year again! As the sun slowly moves toward a perfect alignment with MIT’s Infinite Corridor, we are preparing a week of engaging programming around “MIThenge,” a tradition as unique as MIT itself. This year’s events will explore the marvel of MIThenge and humanity's future. Don’t miss these opportunities to learn directly from faculty experts about the vastness of our solar system and to connect with your fellow community members.
Infinite Solar System Walking Tours with Professor Richard P. Binzel
We will kick off with Infinite Solar System Walking Tours, a walking tour of the third floor of the Infinite with Professor Richard P. Binzel. Over the course of an hour, Prof. Binzel will take participants on a tour of a scaled version of the solar system and bring to life the immense scale of space. The tour also highlights MIT’s contributions to our understanding of the cosmos. Space is limited, so be sure to register in advance!

Thursday, November 7: 10am & 2:30pm
Friday, November 8: 10am & 2pm

From MITHenge to MarsHenge: Foreshadowing Our Future as a Multi-Planetary Species
Last year, we explored the history of cosmic alignment, from Stonehenge to MIThenge. This year, we look forward! From reviewing 2024’s total solar eclipse to discussing the alignments that could shape humanity’s expansion to other planets, this event offers a compelling glimpse of our cosmic future. Stick around after the lecture to discuss details with Prof. de Weck and fellow community members in Lobby 13.
