On Monday, October 9, 2023, the Indigenous community at MIT and friends joined former Canadian poet laureate, Louise Bernice Halfe (Sky Dancer) and MLK Visiting Scholar, Jean-Luc Pierite on a reflective walk along the Charles River and lunch. The former poet laureate generously provided time to build relationships with students before continuing her local tour of Indigenous Peoples Day events in the greater Boston area. The community then experienced readings from Halfe’s Burning in This Midnight Dream.
